Moon Yoga’s in Vedic Astrology

Moon’s Influence on Wealth and Qualities
The Moon’s position relative to the Sun affects a person’s wealth, knowledge, efficiency, and actions. When the Moon is in:
Kendra houses (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) from the Sun, the person exhibits:
– Good manners
– Wealth
– Knowledge
– Efficiency
– Action
- Houses (2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th) from the Sun, the person possesses these qualities in smaller measures.
- Houses (3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th) from the Sun, these qualities are required in greater measures.
Wealth and Comfort
For a day birth, if the Moon is in its own or a friendly Navamsha (sub-division) and aspected by Jupiter, or for a night birth, if the Moon is similarly situated in Navamsha and aspected by Venus, the native becomes wealthy and leads a comfortable life.
Commentary:
The Moon is a crucial factor in determining wealth. Its strength is conducive to wealth, as supported by the following slokas (verses)
The ChandraDhi Yoga: A Celestial Conjunction for Success
When the 6th, 7th, and 8th houses from the Moon are occupied by benevolent planets, the esteemed ChandraDhi Yoga is formed. This rare combination is associated with individuals who achieve remarkable success and prestige, including:
- High-ranking military officials
- Cabinet ministers
- Heads of state
These individuals typically enjoy:
- Abundant wealth and comfort
- Unwavering willpower
- Triumph over adversaries
- Robust health and longevity
The Moon’s strength is the linchpin of this yoga, and its potency is amplified by the benevolent planets in the 6th, 7th, and 8th houses. Two crucial factors determine the yoga’s efficacy:
- The Moon’s distance from the Sun, ensuring its strength in Pakshabal.
- The planets in the 6th, 7th, and 8th houses must also be strong and ideally positioned far from the Sun.
The direct aspect of a benevolent planet in the 7th house from the Moon further enhances its strength. Meanwhile, the planets in the 6th and 8th houses bolster the 2nd and 12th houses from the Moon, creating a powerful synergy.
To unlock the full potential of the ChandraDhi Yoga, all three houses (6th, 7th, and 8th from the Moon) must be occupied by benevolent planets. If only one or two houses are occupied, the yoga’s effects are diminished, potentially leading to adversity.”
However, if there is any planet other than the Sun or Moon in the Kendra (angular houses) from the Lagna (Ascendant), the Kendra Yoga is not caused.
Some astrologers believe that Kendra Yoga occurs if there are no planets in the Kendra houses from the Moon or if there are no planets in the 2nd and 12th houses from the Sun occupied by the Moon. However, this opinion is not widely recognized.
Commentary:
The location of planets in the 12th house is considered beneficial, but the best results, particularly in the financial sphere, come from the location of benefic planets in the 2nd house from the Moon. This is because the Moon acts as a Lagna (Ascendant), and any benefic planet in the 2nd house from it naturally contributes to wealth.

Kendra Yoga: A Planetary Alignment for Prosperity
The Kendra Yoga is formed when specific houses from the Moon are occupied by planets. Here are the variations:
- Anapha Yoga: 2nd house from Moon occupied (except by Sun)
- Sunapha Yoga: 12th house from Moon occupied (except by Sun)
- Durdhura Yoga: Both 2nd and 12th houses from Moon occupied (except by Sun)
- Kendra Yoga: Neither house occupied, leading to poverty
However, if planets occupy the angular houses from the Ascendant (except Sun or Moon), Kendra Yoga is not formed.
Some astrologers believe Kendra Yoga occurs when no planets occupy the angular houses from Moon or Sun, but this view is not widely accepted.
The 2nd house from Moon is particularly significant, as benefic planets there bring wealth and prosperity, amplifying the Moon’s influence.
31 Varieties of Yogas: Influencing Wealth and Status
There are 31 varieties of yoga’s, each with unique characteristics. These yoga’s are formed by the permutation of planets in specific positions, particularly in the 2nd and 12th houses from the Moon.

Here are some examples of yoga’s and their corresponding effects:
- Anapha Yoga: The person is self-made, intelligent, and enjoys wealth, fame, and status.
- Sunapha Yoga: The individual rules over others, is disease-free, and has a good reputation.
- Durgara Yoga: The person is born into wealth, possesses conveyances, and has many servants.
- Kemadrum Yoga: The individual is poor, miserable, and wicked, even if born into a royal family.
The planet responsible for the yoga also influences the outcome:
- Mars: Ambitious, brave, and wealthy
- Mercury: Clever, skilled in speech and arts
- Jupiter: Wealthy, comfortable, religious, and favored by the government
- Venus: Luxurious, rich, and indulgent
- Saturn: Enjoys others’ wealth, leads a group, and engages in various activities
Daytime births with the Moon in the visible half of the horoscope can bring bad results, while the invisible half can bring good results.
The location of natural benefic planets in the Upachaya houses (3rd, 6th, 10th, and 11th from both the Ascendant and Moon) can override other yogas, ensuring wealth and prosperity:
- All benefic planets in these houses: Extremely rich
- Two benefic planets: Highly rich
- One benefic planet: Moderately rich
This yoga has the power to make a person rich, even if they are born in a Kemadrum Yoga or other challenging combinations.
We will come back with other important yoga’s in the forthcoming blogs. Till then take care and happy Learning!
